My last bookstore visit this trip (barring any more detours) was @shelflifebooksrva with an amazing selection of new books on their lower level, and rooms upon rooms of used books upstairs. My new book purchase was The Black Hunger, described as a “queer gothic” and my used finds included a 1950 Modern Library edition of Moll Flanders (I read that Defoe’s Roxana in university and I liked this green cloth cover) and a few other lovelies. I could have spent hours browsing but mindful of my patient family waiting in the car I did a quick browse (with time to pet one of the bookstore cats) and plan to revisit the next time I’m in Richmond.
