Taken from A High and Hidden Place (although I copped out and skipped the first part, as my memory is not good enough to narrow my reading down to specific ages).
3 Favorite Reading Locations:
- Bed (even if it does make me sleepy sometimes)
- Comfy overstuffed chair in our living room
- Car (when we go on road trips, I’m the passenger and can sit back and read, looking up every so often to take in our surroundings)
I wish I could be one of those women who read in the bath, but I have this abnormal aversion to baths. The thought of them just makes me cringe, even though I would love to be able to enjoy all the bath products out there. Strictly showers for this gal.
3 Reading Habits:
- According to Anne Fadiman’s Ex Libris, I’m a ‘courtly lover’ of books – I examine all available copies at the bookstore before buying to make sure I’m getting the most pristine copy, and then I try my utmost to keep it that way – no bending of the spine, dog ears, or (gasp!) writing in the margins. Most of the books on my shelf don’t even look like they’ve been read. I know that may baffle and annoy some people (namely the ‘carnal lovers’).
- I always carry at least one book with me, wherever I go. It helps pass the time waiting in line at restaurants, sitting in traffic, or waiting for the movie to start, and with so many books out there, I need all the reading time I can get.
- For some reason, I like reading the copyright page at the front of books.

3 Favorite Book Beverages:

3 Favorite Bookmarks:
- Old business cards from JWT (I have a boxful so need to use them somewhere, and then I don’t mind when I inevitably misplace them)
- BookCrossing bookmarks
- One with the Newfoundland tartan that my aunt gave me, but I keep it in my jewelry box so I don’t lose it.
