Clothes Make the Woman

Dragman was my graphic novel selection for June, and tells the story of Dragman, AKA Dolly Marie, AKA August Crimp, an average, everyday family man whose secret is not so mundane. He’s a superhero. When August dons women’s clothes, he discovers his superpowers, including the ability to fly. Accompanied by his sidekick, DogGirl, he attempts to fulfill his role as a superhero, but it turns out not to be as straightforward (no pun intended) a venture as you’d think.

I liked the style of the comic and appreciated the sentiment of a person who feels powerful when they are being true to themselves. However, I was not expecting the sexual violence and the dual narrative that put me inside the mind of a sadistic killer. I would definitely advise some trigger warnings for this book.
