Fun Home is a sentimental favourite of mine, since it was the first graphic nonfiction book I ever read and sparked an interest in that format and genre. With the exception of The Secret to Superhuman Strength, I’ve not read any other of Alison Bechdel’s work, and it took me a minute to get into the meta-fiction style of Spent. Once I settled in, I really enjoyed this story of (fictional) Alison and her partner Holly and their midlife life in rural Vermont.
