Today I got to fulfill one of my bookish bucket list items, visiting The Monkey’s Paw in Toronto and trying out the Bibliomat — a book vending machine that gives you a surprise “old and unusual” book when you insert a token. I almost bought a first edition of Back to the Local but already owning a reprint copy, I demurred. I did buy a 19th century travelogue of one young woman’s travels in part of Canada and the US.
