A “Hate-Read”

The one positive thing I will say about Hidden Pictures is I liked the drawings—I thought that was an interesting technique—but they were the only creepy thing in this otherwise not very well written book. [If you have any intention of reading this book, be warned that spoilers are ahead.] At times laughably preposterous, at no point was I remotely scared. I’m not sure what the purpose of the main character’s religion was other than setting up the Christian = good, atheist = bad trope (ugh). I also hate when authors equate fatness with negative or weak personalities. But the killer for me (no pun intended) was the author’s use of transphobic beliefs (parents forcing their young children to be a different gender) as a plot device. Yuck.
