Bookish Memoir

From my “books about books” collection, a bookish memoir by NPR’s book reviewer, Maureen Corrigan. While many literary critics like to espouse how well read they are by discussing high brow canonical literature, Corrigan talks about detective novels and other genre fiction. Her parents, her Catholic upbringing, and her adoption of a Chinese daughter form the bulk of the book. While for the most part I don’t share her taste in books, I did come away with two books added to my list of ones to read: Gaudy Night by Dorothy Sayers, and a book of poetry by Stevie Smith.
