The Safekeep is one of those books that the less said about its contents, the better for other readers. I will say that it’s one of those rare books that when I finished, I immediately wanted to reread. It’s also long listed for the Booker Prize and absolutely deserves to win. Also, this cover: love. And not least, the author gives a shout-out to Alice Winn in her acknowledgements, the author of In Memoriam, which is another of my favorite books in recent memory.
