I don’t normally bother with special editions of books, nor do I typically buy hardcover editions, but I recently read a library copy of The Warm Hands of Ghosts by Katherine Arden and LOVED it. This didn’t surprise me, as I read and loved her Winternight trilogy. I also have a penchant for stories about the First World War, and being as how I lived and went to university in Halifax, the fact that she incorporates the Halifax Explosion into her story had me eager to read it. The book is a wonderful mix of historical fiction and dark folktale, literary catnip for the likes of me. And when I saw that this GORGEOUS edition was available through UK bookseller Waterstones, I decided to splurge and order it. Isn’t it beautiful?
