My husband and I watched The Detectorists early this year (and highly recommend the series) and as a consequence, I found out about the famous Sutton Hoo site in eastern England, and subsequently, this fictionalized account of the discovery and archaeological dig of the Anglo-Saxon burial site. The story takes a look at some of the key characters and challenges of the dig, a quick read that I very much enjoyed. (Now we’ll have to watch the movie adaptation with Ralph Fiennes.)
