Another Lackluster Read

This is another book that captured my interest by its title and cover. The stories contained within are a mishmash, but disappointing overall. With the exception of the final story, which was actually good but just so incongruous with all the others, each tale focused on teenagers in small towns, feeling the angst of being figurative or literal outsiders in their communities. I enjoyed some stories but wouldn’t go so far as to say there was one that I loved from start to finish, or that was actually scary. And aside from the rural settings, these didn’t seem like folk stories to me. If I’d realized ahead of time that this collection of stories was YA and American focused, I probably would have skipped it.
