I picked up Old God’s Time because I loved both the title and the cover. Unfortunately for me, it went downhill from there. I didn’t really enjoy the rambling tone, and the cause of one character’s death seemed implausible to me, I’d be curious to know the author’s motivations for that particular one. Also, why the multiple mentions of flatulence? Was that supposed to help ground aspects of the story in reality? I know it was longlisted for the Booker, and a lot of people have loved it, but I was disappointed.
