Ironically, I read most of The Wild Silence, a paean to our connection to the land upon which we live, while riding in our car. The Wild Silence is a poignant companion to The Salt Path. Raynor writes so evocatively of the land, of her relationships, and of finding her way in this world we inhabit. As with The Salt Path, I spent considerable time looking up the places she writes about on google maps (in this case, points along a hiking trail in Iceland). I’m looking forward to reading her newest book, Landlines.
