I’ve been saving this little novella by Stephen King to read at Thanksgiving, because it’s set in Castle Rock during the days leading up to and after their annual Thanksgiving Turkey Trot. Pretty much all of my experience with King is via his horror novels, so this was a surprise. It’s a poignant, magical tale with more than a touch of mystery and melancholy. I really liked it. And isn’t the inside cover beautiful? I wish more hardbacks had this kind of details; I’d be more inclined to buy them. Also, the chapter heading sketches: I loved these in King’s recent book, Fairy Tale, but I don’t recall seeing them in his horror novels. Are they a feature of his fantasy writings?
