I started reading @naomi_alderman’s novel, The Power, by my backyard fire pit this afternoon and ended up staying up til 1am to finish it. It’s a futuristic “what if” that also has us turning a side-eye to our own history and current world. The “power” is not just the aberration in nature that is the premise of this book, it’s also the question of what humans do with power, or what power does to them. This is the kind of book you want to discuss with others once you’ve read it. This was a staff pick from Megan at @underground_bks whose recommendations always strike true for me.
