Since coming back and checking out various other book blogs, it seems like everyone has jumped on board Carl’s R.I.P. Challenge, or, the Readers Imbibing Peril Autumn Challenge. The goal is to read five books by October 31st that have “gothic, scary, moody, atmospheric” themes. I have quite a few unread books that would qualify, so I’m going to attempt this challenge. I actually have the book which is being offered as the prize (and a sweet one it is) but if this gets me reading some of these books, then that’s enough for me. I’ll treat myself on October 31st with some of the Hallowe’en candy that I don’t give out to the kids, heh.
So now, I just have to decide which books to choose. Here are the ones I’m thinking of:
- The Ghost Book of Charles Lindsey, Viscount Halifax
- The Tooth Fairy by Graham Joyce
- Sleep, Pale Sister by Joanne Harris
- Saints and Strangers by Angela Carter
- The Shadow of the Wind by Carlos Ruiz Zafon
Actually, now I just have to decide which one to read first …
