Mike and I have been wanting to create some kind of site that promoted books and reading in some way. About a month ago, I came across a post on the Bookstore Tourism blog making note of a grassroots site that identifies independent alternatives to Starbucks. He asked if anyone could do the same for indie bookstores and after talking over some of the logistics with Mike, we decided to take up the challenge. The result is Bookwormz, which Mike has been working tirelessly on for the past several weeks, with aesthetic and erudite suggestions from Yours Truly.

This is definitely a work in progress, and since it’s a user-supported database, we need all the help we can get listing independent stores throughout the US. Right now we have only listed stores within our own zip code, so to see the site’s capabilities, enter 28273 in the zip search field. We also would love to hear any suggestions for improvements, questions, or critiques. Unadulterated praise would also not be unwelcome. 😉
