When I first started this book blog, way back in January 2006, I was among a relatively few book nerds who were turning to the internet to write about the books we’d been reading, sharing recommendations and joining in reading challenges (oh, so many challenges! I even had my own, the Armchair Travel challenge).
A recent audit of all the book blogs I used to follow back in the day showed that sadly, like my own for many years, most of them are now dead links, their authors having either moved on to other platforms or stopped altogether.
But there are a few hardy souls still around!

My biggest regrets when it comes to my own blog, aside from letting it go dormant, was not keeping my domain active. When I returned at the beginning of this year, I was able to rebuild my blog, at least as far as the posts are concerned. But what is irretrievably lost (at least as far as I’ve been able to determine) are all the interactions made via the comments on those posts. That was a really great part of blogging, finding like-minded souls and commiserating with them about books and life.
If you are out there blogging about books, whether you’re an old-timer or a recent convert to the medium, please post a comment with your site link. One of the things I miss about the blogging community is the community feel it had back in the day (the closest I’ve found now is Instagram, but that seems too wide a platform and too reliant on the algorithm to really feel like a community, at least for this old gal).
