I have loved Helene Hanff’s writing for decades, and count 84, Charing Cross Road as one of my favourite books–and films. (A couple of years ago, to celebrate my 50th birthday, we rented a local theater and watched the film with friends, many of whom had never seen it. That was a real treat!)

Many years ago I bought a used copy of Underfoot in Show Business, her account of attempting to make it in NYC’s theatre world. Imagine my delight when I saw that it had been inscribed by Helene with the most delightful message. This book is one of my prized possessions.

I was so happy to see Underfoot getting a new edition, published by Manderley Press, that I preordered a copy (and another of their books, The Armourer’s House by Rosemary Sutcliffe, for good measure), which arrived last week. Manderley’s books are so beautiful, and their edition of Underfoot in Show Business proudly joins my Helene Hanff collection (which includes MP’s edition of Letter from New York). I’m so glad to see Helene getting renewed love!
