Sisters, Sisters

I love post-apocalyptic and dystopian novels (there is a difference) and there are so many out there now, it can be difficult to find the wheat among the chaff. Thankfully, The Garden is an example of the former, as I could not put this book down. Two sisters live alone, with the influence of their long-dead mother still dictating their daily functions. The world has seemingly ended in some kind of climate-induced apocalypse, but the sisters have been able to survive thanks to the garden, which their mother established in the waning days of the world as we know it. But their quiet existence is shattered with the arrival of a boy from the outside, who upends everything the sisters thought they knew. I was rivetted.
