Joys of Cooking

Lucy Knisley’s graphic travel memoir, French Milk, was one of the first graphic nonfiction books I read, way back in 2009, and is a favourite of mine. I love her storytelling and artistic style, and Relish, which as you can see is food-focused, is another excellent book by Knisley. She relates memories of her life via the foods she’s experienced, such as her mom’s homemade pesto, her grandfather’s roasted lamb, with recipes helpfully provided—in fact, I’d buy an entire cookbook illustrated by her—as well as her attempts to recreate the perfect croissant and her grandmother’s pickles. I relished Relish! (sorry, I couldn’t resist)
