I have a mixed reaction to this collection of essays. Written over a decade ago, some of its points are still very much on point, but others come across as simplistic or dated, particularly in their hopefulness or belief in the positive impact of certain events. There’s also not a lot of space given to talking about women who are especially vulnerable, like women of color, trans women (and trans women of color). There weren’t any revelations for anyone who is familiar with the topics covered, but I guess as a intro, particularly for those who may never have given thought to these issues before (men, but of course hashtag not all men). I wonder what Solnit would say today if she updated her writing on the subject.
