Short story collections can be hit or miss, but Highway Thirteen was, for me, a really satisfying reading experience. These were centered on one sinister connection, and I liked how some were just tangential to that link and others not. I really enjoyed Australian author Fiona McFarlane’s novel The Sun Walks Down, and in these stories, she also displays her skill in writing captivating plot and characters.
