When I stumbled upon this book at @narberthbookshop last summer, I was intrigued by the premise but apparently didn’t read it closely enough because I thought it was a novel and when I brought it home, shelved it with my fiction. As I was reading it this week, I thought to myself, this reads much like a memoir or diary. Which, in fact, it is! I loved the style of writing, dreamlike with evocative imagery, as well as the delving into women’s lives and how their stories are told—or not. And while I’ve never birthed or breastfed a child so can’t personally relate to those experiences, I still empathized with @doireann.ni.ghriofa and her experience of womanhood.
