The setting and characters of Haven were fascinating. The complexity of humans with their capacity for compassion and brutality are set against the austere beauty of the natural world, with humans both a part of and apart from that world. I’d never heard of the Skelligs before reading this but spent considerable time looking them up online as I did so.
