Canada Book Haul

I’m back from a week in Canada visiting family and of course I spent some time browsing for books. These are my used bookstores and thrift shops finds. Being in Canada meant that it was much easier to find books by Canadian authors. I also found a UK edition of Lessons in Chemistry, and I like that cover art much more than the US version. Does anyone remember the Time Life books? I always wanted them, especially this one about ghosts and paranormal stuff. My Sweet Audrina was a guilty pleasure in my teens (along with the Flowers in the Attic series) and I just couldn’t resist getting this copy for cheap when I saw it on the shelf. The vampire book is full of inserts and such, so I’ll be making a separate post to showcase that. And yes, that is a stack of Vachon cakes behind the book stack.

One of my Canadian bookstore visits was to an independent bookstore in Burlington, Ontario, called A Different Drummer. They had an excellently curated selection of books. I found one from my wishlist (on the left) and one that caught my eye (marmalade is one of my favorite jams), neither of which I’ve seen in a bookstore before. The shop is multi-level, and the proprietors were courteous but not intrusive. If I lived in the area, I’d definitely be a frequent visitor.

My last and largest book haul while in Canada was from @sarniabookkeeper — I first visited them last summer and have been looking forward to returning ever since! They have a great selection of books and gift items (I also bought a bookish themed nightshirt) and staff who truly love books. They had copies of Hollow Bamboo and The Damages, which I had on my wishlist, and recommended Greenwood to me based on my penchant for books like Station Eleven and Moon of the Crusted Snow. The others in the stack were either in their staff picks section or suggested to me directly. Local bookstores are the best!
