A bibliophilic birthday

Friday was my birthday and it was filled with great books. First off, I received a package from my BookCrossing birthday buddy, a military wife stationed overseas. She sent me five books from my wishlist:

In case the titles aren’t clear, those books are My Life as a FakeMain StreetThe Red QueenCome Closer and A Morbid Taste for Bones. Each book was individually wrapped, and it was great fun opening so many surprises.

I then dragged my sister-in-law (the one who hates reading) along with me to a semi-annual library sale that takes place just north of Atlanta. Below is a photo of my haul, about 80 books altogether:

The sale took place in this huge hangar-style warehouse, with rows and rows of books thankfully arranged by genre and in the case of fiction, by the first letter of the author’s last name. Luckily, I managed to find a few books from my wishlist, including The Unredeemed CaptiveCreek Walk and Other StoriesAn Instance of the Fingerpost, and Any Human Heart. Of course, I picked up several books that just caught my eye, including The River KingBrontë, and The Song Reader. Some, like The Queen of Subtleties and Sins of the Seventh Sister, I’ve already read, but didn’t own copies of my own, and enjoyed them enough that I may read them again someday. About half were books that I plan to release through BookCrossing. Even my sister-in-law enjoyed herself at the sale, picking up a few books on car repair for her husband and some religious and financial themed ‘how to’ type books for herself.

So, although I’m another year older but not necessarily wiser, it was a great day for this bibliophile!
