OK, so how much of a book nerd am I, that I even enjoy board games with a literary twist? Granted, I love board games in general (even when my husband beats me at Scrabble), but toss in the promise of testing my bibliophilic sensibilities, and well, you had me at books. Currently, my only reading-related game is the Book Lovers Trivial Pursuit edition (for a comical review of that game, check out this post from Bookslut), which sadly, I don’t get to play that much, since strangely enough, no one else ever seems keen on playing it.
And tonight, browsing through the July issue of O Magazine (which I bought off the advice of BookGirl, since it’s Oprah’s summer reading guide issue), I came across a little blurb for a new book-related game called Liebrary – basically, it’s a literary Balderdash and looks like great fun. When I went to look it up online, I discovered it was invented by Daryl Hannah (yep, surprised me too). Liebrary looks a bit more relaxed than the TP game, and seems that even people who restrict their reading to the back of a cereal box would be able to hold their own.
